This is one of the most asked question by far. The question isn't so much as to why I want to live a healthier life, it's more about why I would put a website detailing my every move. The answer is simple really. If I didn't do something drastic where I could get others involved, I knew that I wasn't going to stick to it. I know myself pretty well, and I'm much more apt to stick to a goal when my feet are held to the fire. You the reading public are my fire, while the feet will still be mine.

Ok, so today is Day #1 of the get in shape project. For those of you who are interested, here is what I'm starting with. I'm 205lbs, and that's the heaviest I've ever been in my life. Now that my midsection is starting to get in the way, I've decided that I need to do something about it. The overall goal here is to loose some weight and improve my overall fitness. If your playing along at home, then I think your goal should be something similar, but make it something that you'll be happy with.

For me the goal right now is to loose some weight, however I think that will change as time goes on. For instance, I already know I can run on a treadmil for 15 minutes straight at a pace of 5.8, which is a little more than a 10 minute mile. You get my drift, my goals will change as time goes on.

Welcome to the experiment! For those of you who don't know, this is a site dedicated to getting in shape. But we aren't doing it the normal way. No way. This year I intend to loose some weight and get "healthy", and I'm going to share the steps here. I plan to keep this site real, and share with you every day the things that I'm doing. I guess it's my attempt to keep myself honest and finally shed some of this weight.

I would also like everyone to know that I'm no health guru or even  know that much about sports nutrition or nutrition in general. All I know is the stuff that I read, and the knowledge I'll be gaining by experimenting here on this site. This site is not intended to sell you anything, nor is it a promotion vehicle. I'm simply using this site, to record my own fitness plan and try to help or inspire others to do the same. At any time if someone has a suggestion or comment/question, never hesitate to ask.

Now lets get started on loosing some weight.

The first thing that I need to do is go ahead and get my measurements. This is really the part that I hate the most. I can already look in the mirror and turn away in horor, so why in the heck do I want to gather a bunch of data the proves my point? The answer to that is easier than you might think, because I need to looking back point to see how far I've come over this journey.
